A tightknit young punk group on the fringes of the underground scene are propelled into the limelight when a childhood friend in a managerial role starts to make things happen for them. Soon relationships are re-evaluated and roles called into question as the media hype and promise of fame creates personal conflicts within the band. Hated casts light on the shadows of the contemporary music industry where careers are at once created and ended and friendships forge ahead on the precipice of treachery.
