Creator of Final Destination unleashes new sleeper horror

Jocelin Donahue (The House of the Devil) stars as Kate Bowman, a social worker who is drawn into a creepy predicament after he estranged sister dies suddenly in bed. She learns of and commences an investigation of a series of bizarre deaths, each of the victims sharing a common trait – they all suffer from sleep paralysis.

Immobolised in body but awake in their minds they are completely vulnerable to an evil entity that has begun haunting their sleep according to an unorthodox doctor. Kate is soon, however, forced to explore his crackpot theory when the demon begins to haunt her friends and family. Her greatest challenge soon becomes staying awake to put an end to the nightmare she's unleashed.

Written by Jeffrey Reddick (Final Destination) and directed by Philip Guzman with Lori Petty and Jesse Bradford in crucial roles, Dead Awake attaches a supernatural twist to real life phenomena that affects up to 50% of the population at some point in their lives. Not everyone, fortunately, must confront the Night Hag.

“The cast led by Jocelin Donahue all give fine performances,” notes the critic at Flickering Myth, “especially [sic] the brief and somewhat unsettling performance of Billy Blair as Mr Pang, a man so terrified that the Hag will get him that his solution is to never sleep again, even if it kills him in the end. “

Eagle Entertainment will make Dead Awake available on Blu-ray and DVD. It gets released on August 8.
