Gaspar Noe's Love gets R rating ahead of theatrical screenings

Set to screen uncut in Australian cinemas, Gaspar Noe's Love has received an R-rating from the board of film classification. The 3D film said to be the provocative director's frank and sensuous take on sexuality follows an American filmmaker living in Paris with a young woman and her child from a previous relationship. But internally struggles to move on from a former flame.

Love recently screened as part of the Sydney Underground Film Festival and will open at Hawthorn's Lido Cinemas from October 29. The Australian premiere will be followed by a Q&A with the director tonight at the Lido. Exile Entertainment and Bounty Entertainment are releasing the film.

Love played in competition at the Cannes Film Festival before screening as part of the MIFF program. The film contains 'scenes of actual sexual activity', 'graphic nudity' and 'sexual themes' and is photographed using the latest 3D technology. Noe has carved out a reputation as an audacious talent thanks to movies like I Stand Alone, Irreversible and Enter the Void.

Love will be available on Blu-ray November 18 ahead of screenings on World Movies, the subscription television channel in January.
