Romance flourishes in Woodstock this August

There's Always Woodstock from Selina Chong's SC Movies label is slated for release on DVD. Written and directed by Rita Merson, the romantic-comedy starring Allison Miller, Katey Sagal, Brittany Snow and Ryan Guzman is out August 19.

Aspiring neurotic singer, Catherine Brown (Miller), finds herself living a life she never imagined. Stuck at a dead end job in New York City at a mega music record label, Catherine suffers as the wrangler for the label's most difficult star. But when Catherine is unceremoniously fired, and then comes home to find her long time fiancé in the arms of another woman, she decides that it's time for a change. Selling off her engagement ring, Catherine moves back to her family home in Woodstock, to get back to what she has always wanted to do: write music.

One night at a local bar, Catherine stumbles into handsome although edgy town doctor Noah (James Wolk) and cannot deny the moment of magic between them. Little by little, Catherine starts to find herself, and write music. As she and Noah start to fall in love, Catherine realises that becoming successful means becoming your true self first.

Strong supporting contributions come from Katy Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) who plays Lee Ann, a local artist who stayed behind for a more authentic creative life and a lively Jason Ritter.

"Always Woodstock is never less than charming and funny along the way," notes Sherilyn Connelly. Thomas Jenkins at Film Book praises the film's sincere romanticism.

"Always Woodstock is delightful, upbeat, happy, and I would even add wholesome," he writes.

This marks the debut feature for filmmaker Rita Merson.
