7 Minutes stars up and coming Aussie Luke Mitchell

Crime-thriller 7 Minutes, written and directed by Jay Martin explores the events that lead up to a brutal heist. It stars Leven Rambin (Hunger Games), Kris Kristoffersen (Blade) and Australian up and comer Luke Mitchell. It releases on Blu-ray and DVD September 23.

Sam (Mitchell), is a dim-witted nice guy who had a promising football career ahead of him until he broke his ankle without a backup plan. He's got a girlfriend, Kate (Rambin). She works in a diner. He's buds with macho Owen (Zane Holt) and clueless Mike (Jason Ritter). When Owen flushes 60K of drugs down a convenience-store toilet, paranoid a cop is going to bust him the trio decide an armed robbery is the only way to pay back their now furious supplier who has given them 48 hours to come up with the money.

It should be an easy in-and-out job that, as the title suggests, only 7 minutes. Of course everything that can go wrong does, and the simple heist turns into a bloodbath.

Having landed a plum role on MARVEL: Agents of Shield, Mitchell is hoping to kick on from Home & Away much like former co-star Chris Hemsworth. 7 Minutes he hopes is the right springboard to showcase his range.

"Before I did the film my acting coach told me this was an opportunity to show the world a different side of me," Mitchell recently told TV Soap Extra. "Certainly fans of Home and Away will get to see a different side to me."

"7 Minutes knows exactly what it is: a directorial calling card to the Quentin Tarantino school of blood-bath cinema," observes New York Times film critic Stephen Holden. "This film is a nasty piece of work."

"[I]t's watchably swift and somewhat engaging in the moment," raves The AV Club.
