Late Phases the next big cult item

Accent Film Entertainment will release the action-horror film Late Phases on April 22. Starring the grizzled Nick Damici (Cold in July), as a sight impaired Vietnam Veteran, it will be available on Blu-ray and DVD April 22.

Crescent Bay is not the ideal place to spend one's golden years, especially since the once-idyllic retirement community has been beset by a series of deadly animal attacks from the ominous forest surrounding it. When grizzled war veteran Ambrose McKinley (Damici) is forced into moving there by his yuppie son Will (Ethan Embry), the residents immediately take offense to Ambrose's abrasive personality. But that take-no-prisoners attitude may be just what Ambrose needs to survive as it becomes clear that the attacks are being caused by creatures that are neither animal nor man, and that the tight-knit community of Crescent Bay is hiding something truly sinister in its midst...

With only his seeing eye dog, Shadow, for company, Ambrose enters a society of alienated old folk and unfulfilled dreams in an aged care facility so bland the residents might as well be walking dead. But in Late Phases it's not zombies that terrorize this community. Things get weird when a neighbour is slaughtered and Ambrose's dog is attacked. Soon he realises that with each full moon a werewolf preys on the village and it's now up to him to stop it.

From a master of the spooky director Adrian Garcia Bogliano (Here Comes the Devil), Late Phases is by turns a moody, amusing and an exhilarating account of maintaining one's dignity in the twilight - in spite of everything.

Winner Best Leading Actor at the premier genre market the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, Late Phases has been called "exhilarating" by the Village Voice and Fangoria lauds it as "a showcase for actor Nick Damici that cements him as one of the current genre scene's most interesting actors."
