Sundance hit Little Accidents arrives February

Little Accidents, a premiere at last year's Sundance Film Festival, hits Blu-ray and DVD February 18. Accent Film Entertainment releases the indie mining drama from writer-director Sarah Colangelo.

Based on Colangelo's award winning short story, Little Accidents takes place in the Appalachian Mountains and dramatises the aftermath of a mining collapse that kills 10 workers. Economic crisis has already widened the gap between wealth and poverty in the area and the mining disaster only furthers tensions and distrust. Amos Jenkins (Boyd Holbrook) is the sole survivor. When he returns home after a lengthy recuperation in the hospital he learns of a court case in which his testimony is crucial to victim compensation. Memory, however, proves unreliable. Exploring the ongoing ripple effects that pile up in the wake of tragedy, Little Accidents delivers a powerful and haunting mosaic of the moral divides and emotional binds shared by employers and workers, industry and community and parents and children.

The son of a miner, Holbrook, who recently appeared in Gone Girl and A Walk Among the Tombstones appears alongside a talented cast which features Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1), Josh Lucas (Lincoln Lawyer), Chloe Sevigny (Portlandia) and Jacob Lofland (Mud, Justified).

Nominated for Best First Screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards, Little Accidents was described by Nick Prigge in Slant Magazine as a "movingly authentic exploration of a working-class milieu and the psychological and economic trauma that ripples through a town in the wake of a tragic accident."
