Spike Island

Matt Whitecross's music and nostalgia period piece Spike Island will be out through Eagle Entertainment. Exploring the summer of 1990 as five lads, in working class Manchester, who live for making music hope to leave behind the depressing industrial surrounds for Spike Island where their heroes the Stone Roses are headlining a festival.

There are a few obstacles in which to contend with. Purchasing tickets and getting to the gig where they plan to take their demo tape in the hope of kickstarting a career, no less. But without tickets and the gig already sold out, the boys embark on a road trip in a "borrowed" florist's van to seize their destiny.

Written by Manchurian Chris Coghill (Eastenders, 24 Hour Party People) and starring Elliott Tittensor who nominated for Best Newcomer at the British Independent Film Awards and Jordan Murphy, Spike Island "benefits from a loose-fit fun vibe including one great E.T. inspired gag," notes Dan Jolin for Empire UK. Eagle release it on Blu-ray and DVD November 19.
