The Dirties to premiere at MIFF

North American independent The Dirties, set for release on Blu-ray and DVD later in the year through Glass Doll FIlms/Ex Film and distributed by Gryphon Entertainment will have its Australian premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival.

Directed by Matthew Johnson who also stars, the film follows two best friends filming a comedy about getting revenge on the bullies at their high school. But one of them isn't joking.

This ambitious, clever and searing self-reflexive take on American high school shootings (and the movies inspired in their wake) continues to create a buzz wherever it plays. Kevin Smith has described it "one of the most important films of the year." The New York Times calls it: "Remarkable as much for its insights as for its audacity, The Dirties approaches school violence with a comic veneer that slowly shades into deep darkness."

The Dirties screens August 1 and 5. Check the Melbourne International Film Festival program for times and locations.
