Siren to release notorious Ministry documentary

04/09/2013

Long shelved for legal reasons, Fix: The Ministry Movie will finally receive a long sought after release in Australia through Siren Visual Entertainment. Once regarded as the industrial giants of rock given their impenetrable sound and ironic persona, Ministry in the wake of the heroin addiction destroying its frontman Al Jourgensen descended into self-destruction and despair during its tour of the United States in1996. Much of that is documented on Fix: The Ministry Movie. Trent Reznor and Dave Navarro both appear to sing the praises of the group. But former bassist Paul Barker has said the candour of the documentary is confronting.

"When you're in the middle of an endeavor you're focusing on getting the job done and so we wanted to kick everybody's ass, take no prisoners, our shit is heavier than your shit. Music is just as competitive as anything else," he told Rolling Stone." So realising that our peers were paying attention to what we were doing and appreciating what we did at the time, it's mildly surprising. That doesn't mean I want to make music like that anymore."

Siren is currently negotiating launch parties for Melbourne and Hobart, the details of which will be announced soon. Fix: The Ministry Movie will be released November 20.
