Masquerade to screen at ACMI

30/08/2013

The acclaimed big budget period piece Masquerade, a radical adaptation of a Mark Twain story, is set to screen at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image September 9. Set during the turbulent Joseon Dynasty in Korea, Masquerade follows an illiterate drunk whose uncanny likeness to the king sees him assume the role when the monarch is poisoned and forced to convalesce. But with the keys to the kingdom the fake leader starts making changes - many for the better to much hysteria and dissent among his corrupt court.

Winner of 9 Grand Bell Awards including Best Film and Best Actor and boasting a healthy 7.9 IMDB rating Masquerade is an acclaimed big budget epic.

"Masquerade is without a doubt one of the best films of the year," notes Modern Korean Cinema, "and a testament to the quality of Korea's period dramas."

Masquerade is out on DVD through Accent Film October 16.
